XHTML: Transitioning from HTML

XHTML is the latest W3C standard language for website development, replacing HTML. XHTML is XML based, and is anticipated to reduce design costs, allow better connection to databases, improve browser compatability, and integrate HTML with other XML applications.

Explore the XHTML language, semantic and structured markup; understand how XHTML and cascading style sheets work together; add graphics; create navigation; and build tables.

In addition to learning to create web pages with XHTML, students will learn how to create accessible and usable web pages by following the World Wide Web Consortium Guidelines. Following these guidelines makes web content more available to all users, regardless of ability, equipment, browsers or environment. Students will also learn what special codes to add and design techniques to provide optimal access and usability. Content accessibility guidelines are integrated throughout the presentation.

Recommended Preparation: Building Accessible Websites with HTML - Level 1 and Building Accessible Websites with HTML - Level 2 or equivalent knowledge. Internet Explorer 6 Basic or equivalent knowledge.
