Elizabeth (Beth) Coco founded MicroKnowledge, Inc. in 1986 as a company with 50 customers in New York’s Capital Region. At the time, MicroKnowledge was the first and only company in the Capital Region dedicated solely to computer training. From the very beginning, MicroKnowledge has been a pioneer within this industry of technology learning and has been inventive in developing techniques for teaching and learning. This is measured by the high return rate of our customers over a 24-year period. MicroKnowledge is a New York State Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) and a Small Business Enterprise (SBE).
In 2005, long-time team members Kathleen Pingelski and Lisa Hebert Ryan became the owners of MicroKnowledge. Today, Kathleen serves as president and Lisa is executive vice president. Combined, the Executive Management Team — consisting of Kathleen, Lisa and Beth — has more than 50 years’ experience in technology training, customization and documentation.
For nearly 25 years, MicroKnowledge has provided high-quality training, consulting and documentation services to businesses of all sizes, government agencies and not-for-profit organizations in Tech Valley and throughout the United States. Our clients include some of the largest and most well-known companies in the region and across the nation. The firm has seen steady growth in clients and in revenue since it opened its doors for business in October 1986 and is recognized as one of Tech Valley’s early success stories.
Long recognized for its commitment to its community, MicroKnowledge continues to donate time, talent and creativity to local Tech Valley not-for-profit organizations. By contributing to the success of businesses and public organizations, we help strengthen the whole community. Some examples of organizations that we support include Literacy New York Greater Capital Region, American Heart Association, To Life!, Women’s Employment Resource Center, Circles of Mercy, Sisters of America (Rensselaer, NY) and YWCA of Troy.
MicroKnowledge has received the “Entrepreneurial Excellence” award from the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a Notable Achievements Recipient of the Capital Region Business Review’s “Great Places to Work” Award for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.
